How to Live a More Meaningful Life

Do you ever feel like the world is passing you by?  Or that everyone has a purpose, something, or someone they love? We are all looking for something and trying to find our place in the world.  Some of us want to work hard and get ahead in a career.  Others want to travel the world and do not care about the possessions to their name. No matter how you choose to live your life here are some rules to live by.

1.  Always try new things and push out of your comfort zone.
2. Start working towards your goals.
Look at what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what your future goals are.  If all of these sections match up you are on the road to finding your way.  If you are an accountant right now and want to work in adventure tourism start working towards that goal.  Start will small changes, maybe work for an outdoor adventure company as an accountant.  Learn the ropes there while taking courses in outdoor tourism.  Anything is a step in the right direction if it helps you decide your life purpose. The important thing to also remember here is not to stress out about the lack of direction.
3. Meet new people.
4.  Learn to have compassion for others.
Compassion takes a lot less energy than hatred or judgment.   When you look at someone and judge them understand that there many be a true reason behind this action that you have judged.  When an overweight person walks by have compassion they may not have come to the same realizations about self as you have.
5.  Understand that not everyone has to live by your values.
Understanding this and having compassion for everyone will make you a more patient person.  If you are into nutrition and eat very cleanly spending time with someone who has different views on diet than you can be very hard.  As a compassionate individual this means that you need to realize that not everyone has come across the same knowledge as you and may not have read the information you have.  This is any situation is a good rule to live by with any knowledge that you possess.
6. Get outside and live life.
Getting into the outdoors in any form is very rewarding and shows you how amazing the world around you is.  Without experiencing the world around you are missing the experiences of life.  Get out go biking, running, eat new food, read something newor simply walk through the forest; whatever you do take pleasure in the world around you and explore.
7. Love and love again.
You cannot succeed if you never fail.  You can never find what you want unless you walk through shit to get there.
8. Travel.
See the world and have experiences.  There is so much that the planet has to offer and so many places to see.  The compassion you gain for how others live around the world will open your eyes to realize your privileges of home.  Without seeing this you will never appreciate the convenience of life you have at home.
9. The fear of failure is much less powerful than the fear of success.
All of us are driven by some sort of fear.  This can come in the form of fear of a change of lifestyle, fear to stay in the same spot in life, or fear to fail.  When we move into a more successful life this means leaving the familiar and this is scary to many people.   Before we much move forward in life or even succeed we must all understand that there is the potential for failure and risk of change.  Change is good.  Improvement of oneself is rewarding and discovery is the road to happiness.
10. Do what makes you happy.
Do what feels right in your heart not what you think is expected of you.  If you love what you are doing than keep doing it.  It you have any doubt in your mind that you may not want to continue on this path then stop.  If you love to party and it truly makes you happy keep doing it.  You may love to do drugs, then keep doing it.  If you love outdoor extreme sports then keep doing it. All you have to remember is that outdoor sports may be someone else drug of choice and to understand that life pulls people different directions.
